Perfect for winter (or anytime really), warm up with these sticky and tasty cinnamon rolls.
Ingredients
- ¼ Ounce package of yeast
- ½ C. Warm water
- ½ C. Warm milk
- ⅓ C. Butter
- 1 Egg (Beaten)
- ¼ C. Sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 ½ to 4 C. All purpose flour
Steps
1: In a small bowl add ½ C. warm water then add ¼ ounce package of yeast, let stand for 1- to 15 minutes.
2: In a small saucepan, add the milk and butter and heat on low until butter is melted.
3: In a large mixing bowl, add 1 egg (beaten), sugar, salt, and flour. Then add the milk and butter along with warm water and yeast.
4: Mix to semi sticky dough ball, add more water if too dry or more flour if too sticky.
5: Knead the dough and make into a ball and return to a lightly floured mixing bowl, cover and let rise.
Filling
- ¾ C. Sugar & brown sugar mixture
- 2 TBSP ground cinnamon
- ½ C. Melted butter
- 12 Slices of cooked and crumbled bacon
- ½ C. Walnuts or pecans
Glaze
- 8 TBSP melted butter
- 4 C. Powdered sugar
- 2 TBSP vanilla
- 3-6 TBSP hot water
Steps
6: After dough has doubled in size, lay onto flat surface and knead for 30 seconds. Use rolling pin and roll out into large rectangle shape.
7: Brush the entire surface with melted butter, then, sprinkle the sugar/brown sugar mixture with cinnamon over complete surface.
8: Sprinkle the nuts and crumbled bacon over entire surface. Start at one edge and roll tightly making a long roll. Cut into 1 inch slices.
9: Lay flat on buttered baking pan. Let rise for 30 more minutes. Cook in a 400 degree F oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
10: Remove from oven and make the glaze. Pour glaze over top of rolls and serve
